Great news for musical theatre fans! The smash-hit West End production of MAMMA MIA! has officially extended its run until March 2026, giving audiences even more opportunities to experience the feel-good magic of ABBA’s timeless hits. As one of London’s longest-running musicals, MAMMA MIA! continues to captivate theatre lovers with its heartwarming story, energetic performances, and iconic soundtrack.

The Global Sensation MAMMA MIA! extends it's run!

The global smash hit musical MAMMA MIA! will extend its booking period to Saturday 28 March 2026 at London’s Novello Theatre, a Delfont Mackintosh Theatre, with tickets on sale from Friday 4 April.

MAMMA MIA! celebrated its 25th birthday on 6 April 2024 and is now the third longest running West End musical of all time, with The Mousetrap and Les Miserables taking the top spots!

Since premiering in London’s West End in 1999, the exhilarating smash-hit has become a global phenomenon, with a staggering 70 million people having seen it worldwide.

The plot follows Sophie who finds her mothers diary and invites her three possible dads to her wedding. With the hits of ABBA, the show has really excelled in a feel good, night out atomsphere that will have you dancing in your seats!

A fun fact: MAMMA MIA! has been performed in three theatres across the West End! MAMMA MIA! originally opened in London at the Prince Edward Theatre (currently housing MJ the Musical) on 6 April 1999, before transferring to the Prince of Wales Theatre (currently housing The Book of Mormon) in 2004, and then to the Novello Theatre in 2012.

My Thoughts on MAMMA MIA!

I honestly struggled with this show until I was lucky enough to see the production at the 3Arena Dublin on its International Tour. I'll admit, I always thought MAMMA MIA! had a certain reputation—too loud, too full of hen parties, and more about the audience experience than the actual storytelling. But after seeing it again, I’ve completely changed my mind. In a world that feels heavier than ever, this show is exactly what we need right now. There’s something so refreshing about letting go, laughing along with Tanya and Rosie, and just embracing the sheer joy that MAMMA MIA! brings. It’s not just a feel-good musical; it’s a much-needed escape, a reminder to have fun, and a celebration of friendship and resilience. And I always love hearing The Winner Takes it All!
